Drew Lane’s new radio show (not) on WJR.

I was passed along a possble promo sheet Drew and Mr. Skin may be floating around to different radio stations. It says they will be on WJR in July! I’ve called WJR and the guy I talked to there had no idea about it. Stay tuned, I’ll update as I know…
Update June 25, 2008 - I have called every station on the supposed ”promo sheet.”They all flat out denies it. And a two of the program directors from the “committed” stations did not even know Drew Lane. Add this to the fact Drew said he was building a new radio studio in his home (in Detroit), it’s clear that this is fake.
Below is taken right from the excerpts of his interiw with Bill Spencer from WXYZ 7. Why would drew lie?
BILL SPENCER: ”What is next for you… do you want to stay in Detroit?”
DREW: ”Yes, I’m staying and if all goes well in fact I will be building a brand new radio studio right here and in a short time will be broadcasting out of this house”.
And who does Drew plan to team up with?…
”Mr. Skin who’s out of Chicago.. and I think you know what he does.”
Non other than “Mr. Skin”…. Once a regular guest on the Drew and Mike show.. And the creator of a website that specializes in guiding men to movies that showcase… scantilly clad hollywood actresses.
DREW: ”He’s a history major in college… he’s a sports maniac like me and I always thought we had great chemistry… even when he was just a guest.”
As for what station… “Drew and Skin” will be moving to… Drew won’t say just yet…
For now… he’s planning the new show… relaxing and taking care of his
Beloved Tess… and thanking those loyal fans
Who for 16 years brought him so much.
DREW: ”I just can’t be thankful enough… you made me what I am… you created this monster and by the way… thank you.”
where will Drew Land. I am a huge fan and will be as devoted to him as I was when he was on the Drew and Mike show….keep us posted please.
I really miss Drew. He really started off my day. I would get more current and unusual information listening to him than reading 5 newspapers. I was probably one of his oldest(63) listeners!
He’s a lil bitch that pimped us all here in detroit! he can go fuck himself as far as i am concerned!
How did he “pimp us?”
I had a feeling Drew would end up doing something with sports. He will be good there. I enjoyed listening to him every morning on the Drew and Mike Show. My wife and I were driving the other day and wondered what he was up to since he has been MIA forever now, so I Googled his name and found this. I am also glad he is not doing some team up with Mr. Skin because that would be lame as hell. Mr. Skin is only worth listening to for about 5 minutes every 3-6 months. That’s the limit of his entertainment value.
I am sure Drew will always be in radio. However, no matter what he does he will be a shell of his former radio personality. Whether he likes it or not, the Drew and Mike Show will ALWAYS be the biggest accomplishment in his career, and he made a mistake by leaving if he is not prepared to go into semi-retirement, which he may be. That show will always define him. I have no doubt he will find himself bouncing around from station to station until he really retires, or if he stays somewhere it will be on some insignificant show that has half the listeners as the Drew and Mike Show.
That’s not a bash on Drew, it’s just the truth. Sorry.
Not to rehash old news, but Drew made the Drew and Mike show. Mike is a clown and every morning he sputters to make it through and hold the show together.
ill tell you that the mike in the morning show really sucks….now i know why drew allways cut mike short every time he mentioned flying because thats all he wants to talk about every time i check to see what there talking about its about just that i hope drew gets back on the air soon
I was just thinking of Drew today because there’s an article on freep.com today about the benefits of circumcision. I remember how Drew would always laugh about having such a nice “cut crown”!! It was always a funny show with Drew there and I wonder why it’s been so quiet lately in hearing about Drew. I wonder if Tess is not doing very well. Hopefully not. In any case, I agree the Drew and Mike show was best ever for morning radio. When D&D came back Jan 1 this year I switched off Mike for them on CSX. It started out strong but I feel starting this month the show has basically “jumped the shark” and they have run dry on creative ideas. Now I just listen to AM on the way into work. How boring!!! Drew where are you?!!!
I have listened to Drew & Mike since I was like 11. I remember my mom yelling at me for “listening to that smut”. With Drew gone it really feels like there is a void in my life. Not a hugh one, but just enough to get bummed out when I think about it. I was practically raised on those two. He is sorely missed.
Drew was the brains behind the Drew and Mike show.Very quick witted and very well prepared for each show. He got tired of doing all the prep work and have Mike come in late all the time. He hated the fact he had to get up so early and miss out on night life,concerts and sporting events by always having to leave early. He got used to living a normal life while he was off with Tess.He wanted to take the whole show to afternoons to continue a more normal life but no one else at the station had the confidence in their own talent to try. wanted to take arisk of killing the cash cow
I still listen to Mike in the morning but it is a shell of its former self.The best thing now is Mark Felhour.Its pretty bad when the producer is a better on air talent than the “star”. Don’t give up on Drew. Auther P is no where to be found at the afternoon drive spot.
I hope Drew comes back to the air soon. He was very good at asking the questions I wanted asked during interviews. He would ask tough questions and not gush over everyone he interviewed. I listened to him back when it was Drew and Zip, and he was clearly the talent of D&M. Mike was a good side kick, but his show is like a spin-off flop- the Joanie Loves Chachi of Detroit radio.
Mike by himself is just terrible. When Mike and Trudy try to interview someone it makes me cringe. They both talk over each other trying to ask some bland question like “Is this your first Christmas film?”, and then whoever wins, then other one asks their question over top of the response of the person being interviewed. You can hear the people being interviewed having a wtf inflection in their response.
Drew was very quick witted and always prepared, and evidently behind all of the bits because Mike just keeps doing the same old bits, without any creativity.
Drew was about as entertaining and likeable as a radio personality could be, he needs to come back soon.
