The Left’s Attack on Barack

The media keeps saying it’s the right playing the “race” card, but time and time again we see it’s Obama’s fellow liberals who are the bigots (Larry Johnson and the “Whitey” remark). Now the New Yorker is getting into the mix with this front page, with Obama’s and an American Flag in the fireplace. Classy!
This is horrible, they don’t even have an article in the paper clarifying the picture.

I understand this is satire and that the type of audience who read The New Yorker are generally intelligent enough to realize that. This is to make fun of all the smears the right have brought during this election…
At the same time, there are many uneducated people who will see this and fail to recognize that it’s satire. They will get a good chuckle, all of their racist, ignorant, stupid stereotypes reinforced, and not have a clue what the illustration was trying to convey.
That being said, I think the New Yorker should have had better sense and realized that potential. This image is in extremely poor taste and will probably be shown over and over again on FOX news and burned into the minds of the ignorant.
I don’t subscribe to the New Yorker, but if I did, I’d be canceling my subscription today, and letting them know exactly why.
This was over the top, but it still expressed a journalistic truth demonstrating the terrible prejudice that is being cultivated around Obama. When you try to “fight” something you too easily end up “joining” it and this is what the artist may have done. I agree that it is repugnant, but sadly, sadly so.
