7 Years too late, President Bush

July 14, 2008

Drudge has breaking news that President George W. Bush will now lift the executive ban on offshore oil drilling. Why in the hell has it taken the President seven years to do this? If he had the authority to do this on his own, this should have been one of the first things he did once he took office. It’s not like off shore drilling is a new issue. This has been something conservatives have been yelling since the early 1990s. We would be baring much fruit if President Bush had pushed this issue back in 2001, or at least in 2003 once the GOP had full control of congress. Better late then never, but damn it sucks it took this long.

  1. It’s just more cash for the oil companies. If anyone thinks this will help the price of gas they’d be wrong. In the last few years major oil fields have been discovered in the US and Mexico and it’s had zero effect on the price of oil and gas. As long as people are willing to pay $4 for gas they’ll continue to sell it at that price.

As long as the US consumes 25% of the world’s oil nothing will change.. this won’t help..you’ll see.

  2. agreed. but put more simply off shore drilling just masks the overall problem of energy inefficiency. supporting it is like supporting cancer, just because its status quo. wake up jeff! or you’ll never get elected…
