Drew Lane on WDFN

Drew Lane will be calling into WDFN around 10:30am tomorrow morning! Stoney and Wojo are hosting their annual Leukemia and lymphoma radio telethon. I will post the audio as soon as it happenes.

Drew is on the air right now at WDFN – Drew Lane all but said Mr. Skin will probably not be his co-host. He implied, he would love to work with Skin, but it doesn’t look like it will be work out. Audio will be coming soon…

It sounds like he knows he threw away a winning formula with Mike and now he’s trying to save face. I don’t know that he can work in this town again.

Ahh yes Jason, the man who has a vandetta against Drew. What exactly was the winning formula? Drew carrying the three talent-less hacks he worked with? I see the “formula” working so well on MIM, simply awful radio.
Mike in the Morning is a disaster. He is a hack and so are those other 2 fools. Drew made that show.
He wanted to do afternoons, wrif wanted to keep him mornings. I can understand his point of view. Good for him and i am quite looking forward to him being on the air. He is very knowledgeable about many things, unlike Mike Clark.
Hey, folks. Why don’t all of you and Drew get a room! It’s one thing to appreciate Drew, but why do you have to slag on the rest of the folks at WRIF? They were #1 with Drew, and they’re still #1 without. Listen to the clip – Drew says WRIF was “fantastic” and the “people [he] worked with were fantastic…best at their jobs.” It appear he seems fine with things. What’s your problem? Sour grapes? MOVE ON! Drew did, BIIIIITCH!
The Drew and Mike Show WAS #1 with Drew. Once the public was finally alerted to the fact that Drew was done for good the ratings started to take a dip. In less than 6 months after the announcment was made to the public the ratings took a major bath.
The last month of Drew’s time on WRIF the ratings were of epic proportions at nearly a 15 share.
It is now hovering around 6 and they fight to break the top 4 in their time slot.
I’ve tried to listen to the show since Drew’s departure but it’s a disaster. They try to keep all the skits that Drew invented going but it’s not the same.
And the ones they made their own suck. Father Figure is a nightmare. It was a great concept to have Mike try to give advice to fathers. The hilarity is in the fact that Mike is not a father. So there was excellent potential for Mike to give outrageous, ignorant advice. Instead, Mike tries to play it straight and instead it falls flat on it’s face.
I predict that as long as the ratings continue to plummet, the WRIF will try to find a real host to assist Mike (who is a #2 at best) or they’ll dump Mike and broadcast a syndicated show similar to Opie and Anthony or Bob and Tom.
I had a feeling Drew would end up doing something with sports. He will be good there. I enjoyed listening to him every morning on the Drew and Mike Show. My wife and I were driving the other day and wondered what he was up to since he has been MIA forever now, so I Googled his name and found this. I am also glad he is not doing some team up with Mr. Skin because that would be lame as hell. Mr. Skin is only worth listening to for about 5 minutes every 3-6 months. That’s the limit of his entertainment value.
I am sure Drew will always be in radio. However, no matter what he does he will be a shell of his former radio personality. Whether he likes it or not, the Drew and Mike Show will ALWAYS be the biggest accomplishment in his career, and he made a mistake by leaving if he is not pepared to go into semi-retirement, which he may be. That show will always define him. I have no doubt he will find himself bouncing around from station to station until he really retires, or if he stays somewhere it will be on some insignificant show that has half the listeners as the Drew and Mike Show.
That’s not a bash on Drew, it’s just the truth. Sorry.
is there any word on Drew these days? we thought he was to be back on the air sometime in February. I still listen to MIM but it seems to have turned into an interview show, who the hell wants to listen to some author/has been comic or anyone who just can’t wait until there 6 minutes are up, what ever happened to striking up some conversations about current events that may stimulate thought. MIM is on my short leash to say the least. They need more Trudi but less of her politics (very liberal)she brings a different dynamic. tell MARC to just go away he is a smart ass with little talent
mike clark has the most lame show ever. i wish drew would come back. the show worked without mike, but not without drew. mike just sounds dumb.
It is certain that drew did the right thing after hearing the remainders of a show gone dead. Drew was far too Intelligent for the Detroit audience. WRIF is painful to listen to.
