Goodbye President George W. Bush
December 30, 2008The front of the National Review this month:
He may be the most unpopular President of all time, but I also believe he may be the most misunderstood President of all time. As we come closer to January 20, 2009 I plan to write more about the past eight years of the Bush administration. He has made many missteps, but he has had just as many successes (if not more).

21 days til the end of an error!
Clever boy!
It’s possible as time passes his time in the Presdiency may be viewed differently. Many presidents that in their time were considered unpopular, have been looked at differently decades later. It’s often difficult to put things in perspective when you are unobjectively in the middle of it. Twenty years from now, I think we will ALL see things a little differently.
Jan 20, 2009
Celebrate the day, Jeff.
Celebrate that you live in a country where the transfer of power is as seemless as driving from Detroit to Washington, DC, which many of your brethren have done for this event.
Celebrate that America now has proven what it long has said……. that ANY American can grow up to be President, even those of our citizens and fellow Americans of color.
Celebrate that a good 9 hours before the Inaugural Parade even begins, people are lined up 10 deep along its route so they can have a sense of participation in todays event.
Celebrate that the vast majority of Americans, by any poll you find, start today with hope and expectation that better days are coming for America.
Celebrate today, Jeff. Feel good about the day…….tomorrow you can go back to partisan politics. But let me warn you, there will be fewer people at that party.
Sorry, i won’t be joining the Obama cult.
Look, I don’t know who runs this shit hole, this harbinger of the lowest rationale…as it were.
Here’s the deal you fucking torpid little insects, regardless of The Presidents jump [granted], the arrogant little John Roberts thought he could do it from memory. The word “faithfully” was transposed both in his initial statement and later, it was AGAIN transposed!. I realize you fucking pathetic neo republicans [this would be opposed to the old right] are so wretchedly distorted that you actually perceive an “unreality”.
Chief Justice John Roberts get’s all the fair treatment in the world [even MSNBC admitted that his own acumen most likely prevented him from memorizing it...for this is reportedly one of his strengths] and you lunatics literally distort and then serve to fabricate things that actually did not occur!
Hence, unreality.
Jesus Christ, how many times do we have to tell you fucking morons, please read the sign posted at the entrance to the internet.

Goodnight, a remnant.
I’ll tell you who runs this here shithole. They’re the kind of authoritarian conservative groupies who want to see Obama fail just so their side can get another grip on power. They’re the kind of reality-defying partisan loyalists who would have been right at home in Stalin’s politburo believing whatever they’re told to believe. They’re the kind of people who wish disaster on Americans because they had the audacity to vote against them. They’re the kind of people who, like the GOP pinhead whose name escapes me, are terrified Obama will create jobs and improve the economy because that will make their bitter, fear-fueled pseudo ideology even less sellable to rational Americans. But I guess you already knew that?
Is this guy for real? Or does he live in a box where he snorts cocaine and imagines the world is out to get him? I mean honestly, I truly feel sorry for someone who believes that the majority of Republicans feel that way. To believe that is not only an insult to our country, but to all the Republicans who did vote for Obama. Your eyes are severely clouded sir.
So the prospective head of the GOP talks in public about hoping Obama fails to create new jobs and ease the economic situation because, if he does, the GOP will have no hope of getting back into power. Rush Limbaugh goes with the same ‘thought’ on his radio show. But it’s me who has the problem? Not you and the quasi-treasonous scumbags you listen to? And, nope, I’m not a sidelined crazy thinking the world is out to get me. That’s a Republican gig now in a post-Republican America. Have at it! (BTW, I’ve never lived in a box and/or snorted cocaine… but thanks for the very reasoned and civil criticism)
Are you an idiot? Why would be we want Obama to succeeded? We voted against him for a reason. He wants socialism, abortion on demand, rights for terrorists. We want his agenda to fail, because it borders on EVIL.
His FAILURE will benefit America. I hope the Senate GOP blocks him every step of the way.
Were you giving President Bush a big pat on the back when he was making all of his big and scary conservative decisions?
Of course, it’s better to put the country through hell, have more people lose jobs and health care, have the US go from leader of the free world to second-rate world pariah just so people might turn again in desperation to your discredited ideology?
No. I’m not an idiot, but if you seriously believe your failed political tenets supersede the good of the country, you are a dangerous idiot of the highest order and a traitor to boot.
Through 8 years of down-spiraling disaster under Cheney/Bush, no ‘liberal’ wished the president to fail because his failure is America’s failure. It’s tantamount to hoping the pilot crashes the plane you’re riding in and the kind of political absolutism more usually associated with suicide bombers, Communists and Nazis. There are many people suffering as a direct result of Bush’s incompetence and ideological stubbornness. But that’s alright with you because it ain’t you I guess because the end justifies the means.
There was a time when Republicanism stood for personal freedom and equality of opportunity. Now what does it mean? A vicious, small-minded obsession with ’social issues’ and a determination to put party over country. So what if people are suffering economically? Let’s concentrate on making a few queers who want to get married miserable instead. So what if our economic and industrial infrastructure is collapsing? Let’s obsess about Roe v. Wade instead even though access to legal abortion is supported by the overwhelming majority of Americans.
The country has taken the best course offered. Whether or not it works out, it’s the far safer bet than 4 years of authoritarian conservatism under McCain. I look forward to people such as yourself railing bitterly and powerlessly from the sidelines now your dumb ideology has been roundly rejected by the American people.
Maybe there’ll be a new Reagan or some Republican with smarts and vision enough to lead the GOP again one day. But, until then, enjoy the lunatic fringe of politics and keep fantasizing about President Palin.
Obama’s failure does not equal America’s failure.
No of course not. More trillions on the deficit, for example, if his economic strategy doesn’t work out means nothing to the country right? Doesn’t it cross your mind that this is the kind of thinking that got us into this mess to begin with?
Fried Wire
I did not vote for Obama, but I hope he can deliver on all the ice cream he promised. Anyone who has to swear to make a point lacks a brain cell or two. Can you really think? Or, are you simply a nay sayer who can’t produce an intelligent thought that doesn’t sepw hate? Hate gets you no where JERK!
I love the headline: “Democrats trash D.C., then leave”….!
The Rethuglicans didn’t exactly leave D.C. in good condition. Rather they’ve left a steaming shit-loaf of a sandwich for the rest of us to take a bite out of. Obama gets to spend time cleaning up people like Kayce Benson’s mess. BTW Kayce it’s spelled S-P-E-W.
Also…Jeff, did you ever think of Bush’s entire presidency as America’s failure. We’ve yet to see if Obama trips up like the bunch of you wads hope for but we’ve already seen what W. was capable of. Abject failure in the eye of corporate cronyism. A complete lack of interest in anything other than that which adher’s to ideology. A complete lack of curiosity and near pride in a simpleminded. Content to be un-challenged or to have to ask ???’s, we have paid dearly for our folly with this buffoon.
And you rube’s don’t get it. What was with ‘04? After the obvious mis-step in Iraq, not to mention treasonous behavior on the part of Bush and his staff – as we now know the president lied – regarding outing a CIA op! W. also just recently admitted thst he DID in fact ok torture!!! Another lie!
Who the hell runs this atavistic site anyways? Why do you feel the need to display a list of your heroes? Especially since you list such a creepy crew? Whoever you are you are quite wrong BTW regarding Justice Roberts, the Larry Linville of the supreme court. It was Roberts who blew the Oath…So what if Obama answered Roberts a little faster than Roberts expected? He should of still been able to keep his place in the Oath. I don’t see how what Obama did would cause someone, especially a “pro”, not to mention a bitchen hero of your’s Jeff…how that would cause Roberts to re-arrange te words in the Oath.
I knew it the minute he put “faithfully” at the END of the first sentence after the pres.-elect’s gives his/her name. It’s supposed to read like this ” I, ( name) do solemnly swear that I will FAITHFULLY execute the blah blah blah…get it?!
The interesting irony is that Roberts was appointed by our most in-articulate president – fitting, eh?
enjoy the next 4-8, twirps….
You all should listen to Fried Wire, too.
Kayce, to ’swear’ is not a sign of mental deficit or inarticulacy. I can think with or without profanity. The latter is just more fun depending on (i) the degree of tightness of your underwear, (ii) whether or not you believe the Victorians were correct in banishing a perfectly valid array of previously innocuous Anglo Saxon words from our language, (iii) whether or not you believe 1,000 years of English literature from Chaucer through James Joyce is rendered invalid because the authors liked to throw around the odd epithet.
And don’t call me a jerk, bitch. (BTW, isn’t jerk also a profanity?)
