About Jeff

My blog has no real theme. I’ll write about whatever interests me. I’m in my late twenties, been married for almost six years and I have a beautiful little girl who just turned four. I’m not a member of any political party, however I hold a fairly conservative view on life. I’ve been a Christian my whole life, Southern Baptist for the first twenty years, then after some research, study and prayer decided to join the Catholic Church.

Why Elect Jeff?
When I was a teenager I had a serious plan to run for mayor of our city once I graduated high school and college. I have always had a love for politics and social studies in general. So think of this as my virtual campaign office, and every time you visit you’re casting a vote in my direction!

My interests
Whenever I visit a blog, one of the first things I check out is the “about me” section. It’s useful because it gives me a sense of what the author might talk about. It may make me explore the website more or enable me to check out quickly. Like I said before, I have no theme in mind for this page, however my general interests are (as you can probably judge from the category section):

  • Multimedia – I’m a big fan of youtube and redlasso –  you should expect to see a lot of videos on this page. However I am not lazy or careless about it – I know a lot of bloggers use them as a cop-out for actual writing. I promise I will only pick quality, timely videos that you’ll appreciate viewing! One of my favorite parts of youtube is amateur music! There are a lot of talented people in this world who all they need is a webcam and they can share their gifts with us! So every other day or so I will post youtube music! I’ve done two or three so far and the response from you has been overwhelming… you want more and I will get it for you!
  • Apple – I’m a big tech guy, also an apple convert. So any apple news I may post here.
  • Politics – I’m conservative, but I don’t vote party lines. I voted for George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004 but I have not been happy with everything he has done. I don’t regret my votes for one second – he has accomplished many great things, namely he appointed two amazing judges to the Supreme Court in John Roberts and Sam Alito. He signed into law the Partial Birth Abortion Ban, something I’ve very proud of. I’m not thrilled with John McCain and Barack Obama as the choices for our next president. McCain is the obvious better choice to Obama who has no experience and a very pro-death voting record and philosophy as a politician.
  • Baseball – I’ve been a Detroit Tigers fan my whole life and you will have to deal with me writing about them!
  • Theology – I am Catholic and believe every word of the Nicene Creed. My favorite theologians are Scott Hahn, Thomas Howard, Jimmy Akin, and of course Saint Thomas. I can be critical of Protestantism. namely because as a former Protestants I am familiar with the theology and believe Martin Luther’s break with the church one of the worst mistakes in 2,000 year history of the Christianity.
  • Radio and Media - As someone who has worked in and out of broadcasting since 2000 I love radio, especially everything that happens in the background behind the scenes. I love talk radio, I listen to Rush, Drew Lane, Art Bell (whenever he is on), Adam Carolla, Dennis Miller, and all local sports talk.
  • Television – I’m big fan of Lost, 24, the Office, so I will write about them a lot!
  • Mormonism – I love the history of the Mormon Church. I have studied Joseph Smith since I was about 14 years old. I have dozens and dozens of books on the LDS Church. I am amazed at what it has accomplished in it’s short life. It’s fascinating to me now as Catholic, because it’s the polar opposite of my church. The main claim of Catholicism is we have a 2,000 years unbroken line of succession from Jesus to Saint Peter all the way down to Pope Benedict XVI. The Mormon Church claims just the reverse. No succession was ever kept, the original church left the earth and the Prophet Joseph Smith had to restore it in 1830 here in America. I don’t think I have written anything about this yet… but I will.

Your virtual campaign office can’t distinguish between contractions and adjectives. Professional.
