Here is a list of the popular iPhone applications designed for Catholic’s and other Christians. I have not tested these, nor am I getting paid for their inclusion in the list. Enjoy!
iPieta – Douay Rheims & Vulgate Bibles, Baltimore Catechisms 1, 2, & 3, Prayers, Mass, and a lot more – $2.99
I bought the new iPhone app, MLB At Bat 2009. And I am incredibly impressed! I can listen to any live game feed for the visitor or the home team. The Tigers are playing the Twinkies tonight, so I’ve been listening to the Twinkies broadcasters (since I detest Jim Price doing play by play). It’s priced fair at $9.99 for the season. The features are just amazing:
Home and Away Team Audio of every MLB game
Live video of select games
Scores for every active game
Full Box Score of each game
Pitch, by pitch live game play display
Outfield Positions
Inning by inning summary
Video of top plays as the game is happening
Standings
MLB Videos
Access to MLB’s Beat the Streak
I can’t recommend this enough! It’s every baseball fan’s dream come true! Here are some pictures from today’s game.
Ever since I updated 10.5.6 on my new iMac, I could not get Handbrake to successfully rip DVDs for me. I have found a solution that will work until Handbrake fixes the issues.
My biggest complaint about the iPod Touch was not being able to listen to my music or podcasts while playing games or apps. For example – I’d be listening to Adam Carolla or Dan Carlin and I’d then start up a game like “Bounce On,”and it would kill my audio.
Well, there is a real simple solution to this problem. Once you open the game or application that just killed your audio, double click the home button and press “play.” Your audio will start back up and the game volume will become lower.
One of the biggest complaint about Apple’s Time Machine is the lack of control. This has lead many third party applications to develop ways to give the user more ways to use this awesome feature. Normally, when you turn Time Machine on, it will make back ups of your computer every hour. However, I have discovered a simple way to back up my Mac with Time Machine whenever you want it done:
Step 1: Open Time Machine Preferences. Step 2: Check the box that says, “Show Time Machine Status in Menu Bar” Step 3: Toggle Time Machine “off” Step 4: In your Menu Bar click on “Back Up Now” using the Time Machine icon Step 5: Repeat step 4 every time you want to back up your Mac
This may be a no brainer, but its helped me out a ton. I enable spaces and then assign stickies and iCal to my third space. You place stickies all over with iCal positioned in the upper left corner.
Then anytime you have an idea or a thought, hit the spaces button ( i use my third mouse button) and jot it down.
I have a brand new 32 GB iPod Touch to give away. All you have to do is be the 10,000th commenter on this post and you win. Good luck and have fun!
Rules:
1) You cannot comment more then five times in a row. If you make five posts you have to wait for someone else to post in order to comment again. If you break this rule, you will be disqualified.
2) Use your real email address (they are not displayed, it will be used to verify winners).
3) Because of the threats of cheating and “script” attacks, once we hit 9,000 all comments will be moved to “moderated.” This will prevent cheating and will enable me to verify the winner. All posts will be approved, so if you make six in a row, I will approve them and thus you will then be disqualified. So be careful and good luck!
Save and bookmark this page as I will update it weekly with new websites and applications for your iPhone and iPod Touch. Most of the applications are free but some cost a small amount of money.

When switching from Windows to Macs, a popular question is what program do I use that is equal to MS Paint. The current version of Mac OS X Leopard, does not have a paint program that comes standard with the operating system. However, I know of three really good, free, alternatives!
1) AppleWorks – This is much more then just a painting program, it’s a whole suite of applications designed for the original Mac OS X. However, it has an excellent painting program which still works on the latest version, 10.5, Leopard!
2) SeaShore - This is is techanlly an image editing program, but it is also a really neat painting software too! Give it a try and I’m sure you will agree!
3) PaintBush – From apple’s website, “The project’s ultimate goal is to recreate the basic functionality of Microsoft Paint, which has been noticeably absent from Mac OS X for years. Paintbrush can open and save to most major image formats, including BMP, PNG, JPEG, and GIF.”
