Drew and Mike talked about this mystery this morning. A guy from Roseville named Matthew Landry has been missing for about a week, and the police believe they finally have the guy in custody responsible for his disappearance.

The Washington Post did the research and the Florida recounts would have favored President Bush

“In all likelihood, George W. Bush still would have won Florida and the presidency last year if either of two limited recounts — one requested by Al Gore, the other ordered by the Florida Supreme Court — had been completed, according to a study commissioned by The Washington Post and other news organizations.”

You can download the MP3, which is about an hour long. It picks up a half hour before the Drew calls in and you can hear how painfully awful Mike is leading the show.

Drew seemed to fit right back in, but it was still a little awkward, which I’m sure will go away after a few shows are under their belt. I’m not sure if Mike is serious or not (aftter a relisten it does sound like he is joking), but he seems to think the show will be called the “Mike and Drew Show” -  I really doubt this since the WRIF website itself is referring to “Drew and Mike.”

And while it’s true “Mike in the Morning” remained number 1 after Drew left, it was at a  lower number. They used to pull 10-12 shares and without Drew they pulled 5 shares at number 1.  Look for those numbers to shoot back up under Drew’s leadership on the Drew and Mike Show.

That’s right, back in Detroit on WRIF 101.1 FM on July 13, 2009! Drew Lane was offered a chance to host is own show in the afternoon or go back to mornings with Mike, and he chose the latter.

Jamie Samuelsen will not stay on the show. He may stick around for a few weeks, but look for the old Drew and Mike show to kick back in gear after the transition. No word on what Jamie will do, but look for him to stay with the WRIF or Greater Media in a different role.

Drew was offered his own show at almost every major Detroit station, and turned them all down. He was offered a seven figure deal to replace Jay and Bill at WKRK, but rejected it.

I have no idea how much WRIF is paying Drew, but with the absence of Arthur Penhallow a huge chunk of money was freed up that will probably be heading Drew’s way.

101.1 FM WRIF – From August 4, 2006 – Drew and Mike talk about John Madden entering the football hall of fame. This reminds them of the time they called and woke him up. This is also provides them an excuse to play some classic Madden “Gay Per Views.”

Drew Lane will be calling into WDFN around 10:30am tomorrow morning! Stoney and Wojo are hosting their annual Leukemia and lymphoma radio telethon. I will post the audio as soon as it happenes.

UPDATE – July 25, 2008:

Drew is on the air right now at WDFN – Drew Lane all but said Mr. Skin will probably not be his co-host. He implied, he would love to work with Skin, but it doesn’t look like it will be work out.  Audio will be coming soon…

Update - 05/13/2009 – New Drew audio!

People love Drew Lane. Every day I average about 25-50 hits just by the search term “Drew Lane.” Mike in the Mornings at WRIF is just not the same, in fact most believe the show sucks. It’s going to be at least six more months before he hear Drew again on the radio. Here is what we know so far about his new show:

• It should start around the first of the year in 2009
• Drew will be broadcasting from his home in the Detroit area
• Mr. Skin will phone in everyday via ISDN from Chicago
• This will not be a “nude women in movie show”
• Drew and Skin will do virtually the same show as the old Drew and Mike Show
• They will talk about movies, celebrities, pop culture and Detroit
• According to his latest WDFN interview, it looks as if Mr. Skin will not be teaming up with Drew. The door is still open, but Drew seems to think their schedules may not sync up.
• Drew may fill in for Wojo when he is (often) on vacation or assignment at WDFN. They joked about it, but it would be very smart choice for WDFN.
• They will most likely end up at WKRK, 97.1 FM (my guess). I say this because Drew is a sports nut. He could still do his show and have a very good mixture of popular culture and sports. This is the same formula the morning show at WKRK works with.
• If WDFN ends up switching to 106.7 FM, he could end up there as well.
• Drew is excited to get back to work and I expect he will be back on the air before the end of the year.
• Drew Lane will return to WRIF with Mike Clark on July 13, 2009… Drew and Mike are back!
