Tigers put skid in rearview mirror

mlb.com by Mike Bauman

With their seven-run splurge on Wednesday, the Tigers increased their 2008 run total by more than 46 percent, all in one Massachusetts evening. Throw in some sturdy work by the Detroit bullpen, and presto — victory was not only still possible, but inevitable. {full article}

Makenna and I watched in utter joy as the Detroit Tigers won for the first time this season. Sure we had to deal with Jonesy loading the bases before we got to place our first mark in the win column.  Seven straight losses was hard to stomach, but it’s in the past now and we can move on. And frankly, I don’t want to talk or hear about it again.
Side note – I watched sports coverage of all three of our local sportscasts and “Tigers Live” after the ball game. Every idiot sportscaster had to make the same stupid “eight is enough” joke. Very clever guys.

The Tigers will win tonight

April 9, 2008

Jeremy Bonderman will get Detroit’s first win of the season tonight. The start of major league baseball has been a living hell in Detroit for the past two weeks. This will all end tonight.

It’s been fun watching all the new Tiger fans jump off the wagon so early. I mean, this team still has one of the best line ups ever assembled. And as much as I enjoy the panic, I am still shocked by it.

Hang in there Detroit, we will not go to 0-8.
