Using ChaCha with Twitter

November 7, 2009

ipod8ChaCha is a free service which lets you ask questions via text messaging. Just text any question to 242242 and ChaCha will answer it free of charge!

And while ChaCha is free, your phone charges you with the cost of a text message (.20 in some cases)! This could be troubling if you don’t have an unlimited plan.

Another problem is, not all cell phones will work with ChaCha. My brother, for example has Metro PCS which has unlimited texting. However, ChaCha isn’t compatible.  I found a neat solution to both of these problems!

You can use Twitter to ask ChaCha a question! Just send a question on Twitter to @ChaCha and you’ll get an answer ASAP! The picture is an example of me asking ChaCha questions on my iPod Touch with the app “tweetie.”

Goodbye President George W. Bush

December 30, 2008

The front of the National Review this month:

He may be the most unpopular President of all time, but I also believe he may be the most misunderstood President of all time.  As we come closer to January 20, 2009 I plan to write more about the past eight years of the Bush administration.  He has made many missteps, but he has had just as many successes (if not more).

The Treatment of Bush Has Been a Disgrace

November 5, 2008

This is a great article from the Wall Street Journal:

Earlier this year, 12,000 people in San Francisco signed a petition in support of a proposition on a local ballot to rename an Oceanside sewage plant after George W. Bush. The proposition is only one example of the classless disrespect many Americans have shown the president.

According to recent Gallup polls, the president’s average approval rating is below 30% — down from his 90% approval in the wake of 9/11. Mr. Bush has endured relentless attacks from the left while facing abandonment from the right.

This is the price Mr. Bush is paying for trying to work with both Democrats and Republicans. During his 2004 victory speech, the president reached out to voters who supported his opponent, John Kerry, and said, “Today, I want to speak to every person who voted for my opponent. To make this nation stronger and better, I will need your support, and I will work to earn it. I will do all I can do to deserve your trust.”

Those bipartisan efforts have been met with crushing resistance from both political parties.

The president’s original Supreme Court choice of Harriet Miers alarmed Republicans, while his final nomination of Samuel Alito angered Democrats. His solutions to reform the immigration system alienated traditional conservatives, while his refusal to retreat in Iraq has enraged liberals who have unrealistic expectations about the challenges we face there.

It seems that no matter what Mr. Bush does, he is blamed for everything. He remains despised by the left while continuously disappointing the right.

Yet it should seem obvious that many of our country’s current problems either existed long before Mr. Bush ever came to office, or are beyond his control. Perhaps if Americans stopped being so divisive, and congressional leaders came together to work with the president on some of these problems, he would actually have had a fighting chance of solving them.

Like the president said in his 2004 victory speech, “We have one country, one Constitution and one future that binds us. And when we come together and work together, there is no limit to the greatness of America.”

To be sure, Mr. Bush is not completely alone. His low approval ratings put him in the good company of former Democratic President Harry S. Truman, whose own approval rating sank to 22% shortly before he left office. Despite Mr. Truman’s low numbers, a 2005 Wall Street Journal poll found that he was ranked the seventh most popular president in history.

Just as Americans have gained perspective on how challenging Truman’s presidency was in the wake of World War II, our country will recognize the hardship President Bush faced these past eight years — and how extraordinary it was that he accomplished what he did in the wake of the September 11 attacks.

The treatment President Bush has received from this country is nothing less than a disgrace. The attacks launched against him have been cruel and slanderous, proving to the world what little character and resolve we have. The president is not to blame for all these problems. He never lost faith in America or her people, and has tried his hardest to continue leading our nation during a very difficult time.

Our failure to stand by the one person who continued to stand by us has not gone unnoticed by our enemies. It has shown to the world how disloyal we can be when our president needed loyalty — a shameful display of arrogance and weakness that will haunt this nation long after Mr. Bush has left the White House.

Palin sounded like Obama in Interview

September 12, 2008

Andrew Bolt of the Herald Sun picked up on a number of interesting similarities between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama. Bolt has all the source quotes on his page.

Governor Sarah Palin Senator Barack Obama

“In order to stop Islamic extremists, those terrorists, who would seek to destroy America and our allies, we must do whatever it takes, and we must not blink…” We should start with the premise that the United States, like all sovereign nations, has the unilateral right to defend itself against attack. As such, our campaign to take out Al Qaeda base camps and the Taliban regime that harbored them was entirely justified… (I)f we’ve got (Osama bin Laden) in our sites, we should ask for Pakistan’s cooperation, we should ask Pakistan to take him out. But if they don’t, we shouldn’t need permission to go after folks that killed 3,000 Americans.

Asked whether the United States would have to go to war with Russia if it invaded Georgia, and the country was part of NATO, Palin said: “Perhaps so.”  “I mean, that is the agreement when you are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you’re going to be expected to be called upon and help,” she said.  Pressed on the question, Palin responded: “What I think is that smaller democratic countries that are invaded by a larger power is something for us to be vigilant against … We have got to show the support, in this case, for Georgia. The support that we can show is economic sanctions perhaps against Russia, if this is what it leads to.”
I would also argue that we have the right to take unilateral military action to eliminate an imminent threat to our security— so long as an imminent threat is understood to be a nation, group, or individual that is actively preparing to strike U.S. targets (or allies with which the United States has mutual defense agreements)…

I have consistently called for deepening relations between Georgia and transatlantic institutions, including a Membership Action Plan for NATO…

No, no. I agree with John McCain that nuclear weapons in the hands of those who would seek to destroy our allies, in this case, we’re talking about Israel, we’re talking about Ahmadinejad’s comment about Israel being the “stinking corpse, should be wiped off the face of the earth,” that’s atrocious. That’s unacceptable.   We have got to make sure that these weapons of mass destruction, that nuclear weapons are not given to those hands of Ahmadinejad, not that he would use them, but that he would allow terrorists to be able to use them. So we have got to put the pressure on Iran and we have got to count on our allies to help us, diplomatic pressure. (T)he global community should offer “big sticks and big carrots” to persuade Iran to halt its nuclear programme.   “A nuclear Iran would pose a grave threat and the world must prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon…”

GIBSON: What if Israel decided it felt threatened and needed to take out the Iranian nuclear facilities?

PALIN: Well, first, we are friends with Israel and I don’t think that we should second guess the measures that Israel has to take to defend themselves and for their security.

I will always keep the threat of military action on the table to defend our security and our ally, Israel.

Alan Colmes is disgusting

August 31, 2008

 Alan writes:

“Rogers Cadenhead gives the timeline associated with the birth of her newest child. She had a speech in Dallas and, even after the water broke, continued with her activities, and then boarded a plane for home. She did consult by phone with her doctor.

Still, a Sacramento, Calif., obstetrician who is active in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, said when a pregnant woman’s water breaks, she should go right to the hospital because of the risk of infection. That’s true even if the amniotic fluid simply leaks out, said Dr. Laurie Gregg.”

He has since removed his tasteless article from his blog:

Colmes removes his attack on Governor Palin

Colmes removes his attack on Governor Palin

Luckily, the Free Republic snagged it before it was taken down. I don’t understand why the liberals feel they need to attack the governor this way. There are many issues, they can disagree about. Their constant personal attacks on her family is disturbing. It’s time for Fox News to show this clown the door.

The Hot Air community reacts.

The Dark Knight

July 21, 2008

The Dark Knight is one of the best movies I have ever seen. My review will be coming soon. In the meantime, check out the Heather’s Movie Mobsters review:

“If you are a Batman junkie, this movie is for you. If you are an action hero or superhero junkie this movie is for you. If you are a chick flick junkie this movie is for you. Don’t bother to wait for it to hit DVD’s, go to your theatre this second, stand in line for an hour, buy a ticket and prepare to be blown away. Three years seemed a long wait after Batman Begins, but now I can’t seem to muster the patience to wait five months till I can own it on DVD.”

Digg!

If you know where this girl is, please call 1-800-423-TIPS (8477)

Caylee Anthony

2-year old Caylee Anthony went missing on June 9, 2008 but her mom never reported it. Finally after a month, Grandparents called police and they discovered the child missing and tired of all of the mom’s different stories. The mom, Casey Anthony said she didn’t call the authorities because she was doing her own investigations, like she’s seen in movies.  Watch this video from headline news for all the details:

Making the WordPress Front Page

July 14, 2008

It’s always exciting to make the front page at wordpress.com. It’s a toss up on how it happens, my guess is it’s based on popular posts in the word press universe. But it would have to be moderated to place the posts in the appropriate category. We’ve made the front page a dozen or so times in or short history and it always feels special. Thanks everyone for bookmarking the page and reading what I have to say!
